First Week of School: Feeling Confident, Dry, and Secure

Feeling nervous about the first week?  Not sure about what to expect?  No need to fret!  Come join Joe and some of the RAs and Peer Educators from 3N for a discussion about what to expect from the first week of classes.  We’ll review some typical first day issues, clarify building locations, and suggest some prime lunch spots.  Bring your schedules and your questions!

STUDY BREAK @606N!

Join Joe and his cats, Buster and Dusty, for the first official STUDY BREAK @ 606N!  This will be an ongoing series throughout the semester.  Come on over, enjoy the carpeting, couches, and cats, plus music, snacks, and socializing.  Take a much-needed break from studying, recharge on healthy food, and then head back to reading that text or writing that paper.  And one never knows what special guests might make an appearance later in the semester, so stay tuned and become a regular study breaker @ 606N!

Plays that Re-Shaped the American Musical

Dates and Times TBD

This semester Joe is interested in having you join him for three very special theatre outings.  Thirteen 3N students will be invited to accompany Joe to see three genre-defining pieces of musical theatre: A Chorus Line, RENT, and Spring Awakening.  This experience will be completely FREE for the thirteen students selected for this brand new, very special program.  Interested students will need to complete a short essay (200 words) about why they want to participate in this program.  Why do you want to see these shows?  What would you like to learn from seeing, comparing, and discussing these three shows?  How will this experience affect your learning experience here at NYU?  Participants will be expected to attend an opening dinner, all three performances, and a closing meal, plus complete a short (emphasis on short!) essay about what they learned through the experience.  Dates, times, and requirements will be posted on joesalvatore.com within the next 10 days and emailed to all 3N residents so keep an eye out for this unique opportunity.  If you have questions, please email Joe at js1655@nyu.edu.

Steinhardt School Mixer with Dean Mary Brabeck

Date and Time TBD

Dean Mary Brabeck of the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development comes to 3N each fall to meet and greet the new Steinhardt students living here.  She brings some of the other deans along, as well as some of the Student Services staff members so you can meet them in your home.  Steinhardt students will receive an invitation, so watch your mailboxes for details in the upcoming weeks!

Do YOU have an idea about another program that you would like to see at 3N?  Stop by 606 North Tower and let me know.  I like to work with students on new ideas, and if we can make it happen, I’m game!  You can also email me at js1655@nyu.edu.
